---- Previous Description for legacy reasons ----

This is intended to help all the volunteers making masks for the COVID-19 pandemic. Making bias tape is a tedious and time-consuming part of making the masks. This little gadget is intended to reduce the time in half.

The bias tape maker is evolving so the one you'll get may be different from the photo, but it will be the best version available at the time of shipment.

There is a how-to video at https://youtu.be/4WB6Jxeqejk

The video shows how to feed the fabric into the bias tape maker and then into an iron. Make sure you use a damp towel so to facilitate ironing and not to burn anything. Alternatively, you can feed the bias tape directly into the sewing machine.

Like all tools, mastery requires a little practice while you find the setup that will work best for you.

Careful with the iron. Use a damp/wet towel and keep constant vigilance so you don't burn the towel or yourself. Also, the bias tape maker will melt if you heat it too much. Overall, you agree to use this at your own risk.

The following sizes are available depending on the initial width of the fabric:
1 " (25.4 mm) input : 1/4" (5.08 mm) output
1 1/2" (38 mm) input : 3/8" (9.5 mm) output
2" (50.8 mm) : 1/2" (12.5 mm) output
2 1/2" (63.5 mm) : 5/8" (15.8 mm) output
* If you need any specific size, send us a message.
For best functionality, the fabric has to be cut to the exact width, because the fabric must fit tightly inside the bias maker for it to be stable.
We have tested several fabrics of different thicknesses and stiffness and all have worked so far, but lighter fabrics with tighter weave seem to be easier to use.

Stay safe!
